Welcome The New Year With A Resolution

Christmas is over, and now is the perfect time to think about goals for the new year and welcome the New Year with a resolution. It is a time for new habits, new goals, a renewed feeling of hope, and starting fresh. After a long year, most people are looking forward to a new year with the hope of accomplishing new goals and encountering new experiences. A New Year is your chance to make a difference in your life, create a new plan, and make that happen. After the social upheaval of the past couple of years, we have endured and learned so much about ourselves and what we are capable of, and resolutions give us a chance to move forward with vision.

I take my resolutions seriously, so I put a lot of thought into them. It is a time to reflect on myself and what I would like to improve next year. Resolutions are different from my bucket list. I want to create a new lifelong habit or improve myself with my resolution. My bucket list is usually an adventure I want to experience.

Choosing realistic resolutions is essential. I don’t select resolutions that I can’t stick to because if they are unachievable goals, I will be tempted to give up on them before I even get started. If you choose resolutions that you won’t stick to, you can quickly get discouraged.

Every year, I write my resolutions in a book to go over them and look at past resolutions. There have been years that I recycle old resolutions because I didn’t accomplish them or feel like they could be carried over.

I want to make sure my resolutions are life-changing. They are something that makes my family or me better. If it isn’t improving us, there is no point in doing it.

One thing I like to do is have pictures to go along with my resolutions. In years past, I have had resolutions to paint certain rooms in my house, and I include paint samples to go along with my resolution. I have included pictures of decorating ideas and concepts of how I want my landscape to look. Anything I can include that can visually inspire me and help me keep my goals is added to the list. I also keep house plans I like and a comprehensive wish list along with my resolutions in my notebook.

Some resolutions are personal, and some are more family-oriented. Previous years resolutions have included:

  • Take More Pictures
  • Read The Bible In A Year
  • Take A Family Vacation
  • Cook More and Eat Out Less
  • Create A Budget
  • Tip Well If Eating Out
  • Home Remodels

Resolutions help me focus and give me goals for the year. Last year I recycled a few from the past. I wanted to eat out less, and when we did eat out, I wanted to make sure we could tip well. I wanted to redo our budget and focus on sticking to it, and I wanted to read through the Bible again.

This year I have set personal, financial, and business resolutions. I hope that this year will bring some positive changes to our family, and I can’t wait.
